About the Music - A Victory Song for the Lost (Hidden Track)

Welcome back!

This is the last song for PERADVENTURE. It's been a great few of weeks spent writing about the songs I created, and I hope that you have enjoyed these postings. As I previously mentioned, I'll continue to write about other songs I've uploaded to SoundCloud and YouTube. I'm also in the process of recording demos for A Quieter Light to Illuminate the Dark, the follow up to PERADVENTURE. I imagine the new release will be out sometime in 2018, but it could also be longer. For now, I hope you've enjoyed these posts and I hope I've provided some enlightenment on the music I've made.

Background

"A Victory Song for the Lost" is a hidden track on my album, PERADVENTURE, and is the absolutely final track for the album. It is preceded by "A Penguin's Tale", which features an intro for the song in the final minutes of the track. This was the last song I ever composed and recorded for PERADVENTURE. It is one of my favorite compositions along with "Memory is the Key". The track is heavily inspired by the pure fact that I managed to record the rest of the songs on the album. I spent years thinking I would never do anything more with my music besides have them memorized in my head. Ever since I composed "Ninety Eight" and "Illusions" in 2010, I never thought I'd get the opportunity to record any music ever.

I also was created the song as a tribute to other songs that have a big impact on my life: "Mylo Xyloto / Hurts Like Heaven" by Coldplay, "Brave" by Sara Bareilles, and "Esta Vez No digas Nada" by La Oreja de Van Gogh. These three songs were really important to me during high school and college, and they gave me strength and inspiration to continue to stay alive, especially when I felt really depressed.

PERADVENTURE

Within the album, the track serves as its "triumphant" ending; our main character has found themselves on the shore of where they crashed, saved by something (or something). They are "happy" that they are alive, despite everything that has happened. As to what saved our character, we won't know... yet. The song is also the last song in the "happy" side of the album.

This song is also one I worked the hardest on because I was able to focus more on this song than any of the others.

Artwork

Every song on PERADVENTURE has its own artwork. I did this because I love knowing what each song has for a cover. All of the images I used for each track is a picture I took on my old smartphone, an HTC One M8. This photo is the original photograph I took, and used later as the artwork for the song. While the rest of the photographs are from Instagram, this image is the original version.
