About the Music - Underwater Adventures (Interlude)

Welcome back!

I'm still working on demos for A Quieter Light to Illuminate the Dark, one of which is currently posted on my SoundCloud and YouTube accounts. I've decided to work on demos first before sitting down and working on making my actual music. When I recorded PERADVENTURE, I didn't know what I was doing; I simply sat down, recorded in one sitting, and released it. I did this because I was limited on time to record as well. For now, I'm taking things slower and putting things together slowly so I can actually improve the final sound.

Background

"Underwater Adventures" is the fifth track of PERADVENTURE, but was actually the first song to be recorded for the album. It serves as the interlude for the album, and is also the first track of the "happier" side. I created this song out of a melody that I had stuck in my head for a long time. For some reason, I was never able to actually compose the song and only managed to do so after a sleepless night at uni. This original demo was uploaded to SoundCloud.

The album version of the track was recorded and released on SoundCloud as the first "promotional" single. I was originally supposed to re-record the song but I left it as it was released because the version of GarageBand I was using had been updated to remove some of the instruments it once provided (including the water sound that is featured in the song). Since I didn't want to re-record the song without the water, I left it as it was.

Composition

The song features an electric piano and a piano playing the melody and harmony, respectively. It features noises of water, the only track on the album to feature any noise besides the instruments that were recorded. The interlude is the shortest track on the album. This song is about expressing different kinds of love: platonic, romantic, and sexual. Its lyrics allow the interpretation to be open to the listener. "Deep underwater / there's an adventure / I want you to be there / I need you to be there".

PERADVENTURE

"Underwater Adventures" is the interlude of the album. It follows "A View of the Ocean" in the storyline. After the main character has crashed into the ocean, they find themselves unable to escape the vehicle they have driven. The main character is drowning and is trying hard to reach the surface, but is unable to do so. This leads to the next track, "Happy Dreams".

Artwork

Every song on PERADVENTURE has its own artwork. I did this because I love knowing what each song has for a cover. All of the images I used for each track is a picture I took on my old smartphone, an HTC One M8. They were all edited to be in black & white, but I also have a color version (which can probably be found online, whether on my Instagram or Tumblr - they also are available on my Spotify account for each track's playlist, but are currently hidden. I'll share them in the future).
