About the Music - Happy Dreams

Welcome back!

I'm almost done with writing the posts for PERADVENTURE. I'm still working on recording demos for A Quieter Light to Illuminate the Dark. I'll try to update weekly after I'm finished with PERADVENTURE. Also, check out the new demo I've released! It's called "The Midnight Waltz", and I'm pretty proud of this one. Background

"Happy Dreams" is the sixth track from PERADVENTURE. It is the second track from the "happier" side of the album. Although it serves as the first part of "A Penguin's Tale", it was actually composed after "A Penguin's Tale" was composed. "Happy Dreams" was my first attempt at writing a song that sounded a lot more "happier" than what I had composed before ("Ninety Eight", "Illusions", and "A Penguin's Tale"). For this reason, it is a simple melody. It was originally split into two parts, but they were later combined together to make the track. The introduction melody was the first part, and the "bridge" after the intro was the second part. I originally planned to have a third part added to the song, but I never composed it.

PERADVENTURE

Within PERADVENTURE, "Happy Dreams" takes place after "Underwater Adventures". It is, in short "the beginning of the end"; the main character has found themselves drowning and has accepted that their death is imminent. As they live in their final moments, the main character is thinking of their entire life and all that they have done with it. They are sinking lower and lower into the ocean, feeling very relaxed and not panicked at the thought of death.

Artwork

Every song on PERADVENTURE has its own artwork. I did this because I love knowing what each song has for a cover. All of the images I used for each track is a picture I took on my old smartphone, an HTC One M8. They were all edited to be in black & white, but I also have a color version (which can probably be found online, whether on my Instagram or Tumblr - they also are available on my Spotify account for each track's playlist, but are currently hidden. I'll share them in the future).

I've decided to work on demos first before sitting down and working on making my actual music. When I recorded PERADVENTURE , I didn't know what I was doing; I simply sat down, recorded in one sitting, and released it. I did this because I was limited on time to record as well. For now, I'm taking things slower and putting things together slowly so I can actually improve the final sound.
